Visiting TOKONAME FUR HOUSE from Osaka
Day-trip guide from Osaka to TOKONAME FUR HOUSE: Tokaido Shinkansen from Shin-Osaka to Nagoya, then the Meitetsu Tokoname Line. Ideal as a midpoint shopping detour.
From Osaka, TOKONAME FUR HOUSE is closer than most people assume. Take the Tokaido Shinkansen from Shin-Osaka to Nagoya, change to the Meitetsu Tokoname Line, and you are at Tokoname station inside roughly an hour and a half. The store is a five-minute walk from the station. It works as a clean day trip, and it works just as well as a midpoint stop on the way to Tokyo or back.
Route overview
From Shin-Osaka station, board the Tokaido Shinkansen bound for Tokyo. Nozomi and Hikari both stop at Nagoya; on Nozomi the ride is about 50 minutes. Reserved seats are recommended in peak periods, though non-reserved cars are usually fine off-peak.
At Nagoya, follow signs for the Meitetsu lines (名鉄). Meitetsu Nagoya station shares the same building as JR Nagoya but uses a separate platform. Take any train bound for Tokoname (常滑) or Chubu Centrair International Airport (中部国際空港). The Meitetsu Tokoname Line ride to Tokoname is about 35 minutes.
What to expect at the Nagoya transfer
Nagoya station is large but well signposted. From the Shinkansen exit it is a short indoor walk to the Meitetsu platforms; English signage is in place. First-time visitors should budget 15 to 20 minutes for the walk and ticket purchase. IC cards such as ICOCA, Suica or Pasmo work on Meitetsu, so a tap-in is the fastest option.
What to do beyond the store
Tokoname is the home of Tokoname-yaki pottery. The Tokoname Pottery Footpath (やきもの散歩道) starts a short walk from the station and runs through old brick chimneys, kilns and ceramic-lined alleys. Pairing the visit to TOKONAME FUR HOUSE with an hour or two on the footpath turns a quick stop into a proper afternoon.
If your itinerary continues onward, Chubu Centrair International Airport is only 5 to 10 minutes further on the same Meitetsu line — convenient if you are flying out of NGO.
Planning the visit
Send a short message before you come — date, approximate arrival, and the categories you want to see (fur, watches, Burberry trench, sunglasses). The store is open 10:00 to 20:00 daily, but irregular days happen, so confirming saves a wasted Shinkansen ride. Reach the store at 070-9313-5369 or via the contact form on this site.
